FOOD SOVEREIGNTY CENTER
This project centered around a concept for a Food Sovereignty Center in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. This particular site is subjected to what many experts would classify as, "food apartheid," with many residents in that area lacking access to healthy and nutritional foods, alongside low income conditions. This project in theory would serve as a community center, garden and grocery, right along one of the most active streets in Raleigh. The scheme features multiple community activity rooms, a commercial kitchen, demonstration gardens and a grocery store available to local residents and neighboring school groups. This center would serve as an educational tool for the importance of growing your own food, nutritional health, and act as a community hub for anyone to use.
